"Propalaeotherium - an early form of horse."

Propalaeotherium, ("Before Palaeotherium"), was a diminutive prehistoric mammalian ancestor of the modern Horse.

FactsEdit

Time/Era/PeriodEdit

Propalaeotherium lived during the Early Eocene period over 50 million years ago.

Size/DescriptionEdit

By modern standards, these primitive horses were tiny, but this is how horses started out – small forest–dwelling animals. At this stage, they were not much bigger than cats and had yet to even develop hooves, having instead four hoof–like toes.

BehaviorEdit

Propalaeotherium lived in small groups to pretty big herds. They often searched for grapes for food.
